Myron Mixon
Known as “The winningest man in BBQ” Myron has won more than 180 BBQ grand championships and 1,700 BBQ trophies. Myron is best known as a BBQ Judge on the reality TV show “BBQ Pitmasters” on Destination America. He is also author of several BBQ Cookbooks and creator of Myron Mixon Smokers.
Tuffy Stone
The Cool Smoke story began with Tuffy Stone in 1987. Tuffy began his cooking career as an apprentice with acclaimed French Chef Alain Vincey at La Maisonette Restaurant in Richmond, Virginia. During the four years in Chef Vincey’s kitchen, Tuffy’s passion to learn and strong work ethic led him to be promoted to Sous Chef and Partner. After leaving to find new challenges, he spent the subsequent years honing his skills at some of the finest restaurants in Virginia and Florida.
In November of 1993, Tuffy and his wife Leslie opened A Sharper Palate Catering Company, which quickly became a premier caterer in Richmond, a caterer of choice for Richmond’s elite, including the Governor of Virginia. A Sharper Palate was voted the Best Catering Company by Richmond Magazine year after year.
In 2004, having loved and grown up around great barbecue, and, as a caterer, knowing its ability to satisfy large crowds, Tuffy began researching slow cooking methods involving a wood burning fire. The result, in Tuffy’s mind, was better tasting barbecue, so with the help of employees, friends and family, the Cool Smoke Team was born.

Nathan’s Famous will host a qualifier event for its annual Fourth of July International Hot Dog Eating Contest at this year’s Giant National Capital BARBECUE BATTLE®. The top male and female finishers will be eligible to compete in the event on July 4th.
Planter’s Mr. Peanut and the NUTmobile
The NUTmobile has hit the road for a year long adventure and will be making a special stop at this year’s BBQ Battle. So grab the kids, hop in the minivan and come on by to see Mr. Peanut and the NUTmobile. It’s not like we drove a giant peanut car 3,600 miles to see you guys or anything.

We’re making big changes to our hot dogs. We removed the added nitrates and nitrites*, said goodbye to by-products, and got rid of all the artificial preservatives in our meat. So we’re spreading the news. Our Hotdoggers have set out on a mission across the country in the WienerMobile. And they’re taking the new ‘dogs with them. Stop by and visit us during this year’s exciting event.
