Kentucky Hot Brown Patty Melts

Transform a classic Southern sandwich into an open-faced burger by topping a grilled turkey burger with tomato, bacon, and melty Swiss cheese.

  • 4 uncooked turkey burgers (about 1 lb total)
  • 4 slices white bread
  • 4 tomato slices
  • 8 slices cooked bacon
  • 4 slices Swiss or Gruyère cheese
  • Ketchup, mustard, for serving (optional)

  1. Set grill to medium. Season the turkey burgers with salt and pepper. Place on grill and cook 5–6 min. per side, until cooked through. Place the bread slices on grill and cook 1–2 min. per side, until toasted. Transfer bread to cutting board or platter.
  2. Place the tomato slices on burgers, then top with the bacon and cheese slices. Cover and cook 30 sec.–1 min., until cheese melts.
  3. Transfer burgers to grilled bread slices. Serve immediately with ketchup or mustard, if desired.
